Some of our most common issues and their resolutions are shown below. Please follow these steps to assist our support technicians.
- Please be sure the firmware on both your helmet unit and motorcycle unit are updated. This is done with our iOS/Android application.
- Please note that the functionality of both the helmet unit and motorcycle unit can be tested with the inView iOS/Android app. Please see our instructions.
- Please see basic troubleshooting below.
- Additional help can be found in our frequently asked questions.
Common Issues:
- Helmet unit does not light up with the inView iOS/Android app.
- Please ensure the batteries are installed properly and have adequate power (we recommend the use of lithium batteries).
- Please make sure it is not connected to your motorcycle when attempting to connect with the iOS/Android app. The inView helmet can only connect to 1 device at a time.
- Helmet unit does not light up when your motorcycle is turned on
- The helmet unit can only be connected to 1 device at a time. Please be sure it is disconnected from the iOS/Android app before testing with your motorcycle.
- When testing with your motorcycle, please check to make sure your motorcycle unit is on (you will see a power on LED and right turn signal LED illuminated). If the motorcycle unit LEDs do not come on when your motorcycle is on, please check the power line fuse and ensure you have a good ignition-on 12v+ and 12v- ground connection.
- Helmet unit does not light up correctly.
- This is generally an issue with an improper connection. The inView motorcycle unit must have a dedicated brake and turn signal connection and must be connected prior to any aftermarket brake modulator of flasher
- See our installation instructions and FAQs if your motorcycle uses your turn signals as a brake light also (i.e. HD Street Glide)
- Helmet unit flashes red LEDs or just 1 side is illuminated
- This is likely an indication of low battery. Please replace both batteries (we recommend the use of lithium batteries)
- Helmet unit hazard lights remain on, unit vibrates and continuously chirps
- This is caused when the unit initially comes on and it is upside down (it could be installed upside down or hung on your handlebars upside down). Should this occur, simply turn it right side up
- Helmet unit amber turn signal lights are on even when the motorcycle is turned off.
- This is caused when the motorcycle unit is turned on and the helmet unit connects while it is upside down (amber turn signal lights will continuously flash while the motorcycle is running). If the motorcycle is then turned off, before the helmet unit is turned right side up, the amber turn signals will stop flashing and remain solidly lit. To correct this state, remove and re-install a helmet unit battery
- Motorcycle unit does not come on when the motorcycle is started.
- Please check to make sure your motorcycle unit is on (you will see a power on LED and right turn signal LED illuminated). If the motorcycle unit LEDs are not lit, please check the power line fuse and ensure you have a good ignition-on 12v+ and -ground connection.
